The Summer Solstice, Our Wedding Anniversary*

A Sweet setting in Downtown Sonoma.
Oak wine barrels, above, as we walk into the wine cave.
The vats of wine before they are strained & put into barrels to ferment.
Yes we were over a barrel with enthusiasm for this tour.
Quite the ladder.
Aloe, in the foreground, with grapevines in the background.
Our wine tour passports, for the Benziger Winery Wine Tour.

Today is the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, it is also the date of our 40th Wedding Anniversary. My husband & I hold the record as having been married much, much longer than either of our parents. So many cards stacked against us when we got married so very long ago, the most significant being having been raised in different religions, & add the fractured family aspect to the equation & you have an interesting formulation.

We are still out & about for the day, I am posting this from the Sonoma Library, as the wireless Internet at the bed & breakfast we are staying at is having problems with theirs. It's a little after 5PM here in Sonoma, a perfect day of touring a winery & a late lunch out at the Glen Ellen Inn, that was superb. Something about California, the beautiful fresh colors in contrast to the weathered natural environment those beautiful embellished the hills.

Congratulations Steve & Cheryl. You make it look so easy, and you still look so happy together. What a gift.
