George Harrison & All Things..

Late Autumn Hugs

Flicker of snow
a life moves on
into the realm of sun

Muted skies
some blue, some not
bring forth of what has come

Possibilities, are endless
this calm within my heart
I cry for you
of hidden words
awakening this dawn

I knew you not in childhood
I knew you not back then
Deep waters part
our aching hearts
you sleep among the dead

Though death is long forever
you sleep with dignity
for life you shared
you never spared
to love
to care
to reach

*Amen*

Gentle fragile snow flakes catch the sun's light as I sit here in awe. This is day six of
Poetry A Muse In Motion

I truly never know what it will be that will capture my heart when my muse "gently speaks". All I can ever do is jot it down, & if the words make any sense, then there it is. Perhaps that is why I always loved George Harrison's song, As My Guitar Gently Weeps, on his All Things Must Pass, album.

The changing seasons of our world, the changing seasons of our lives, how can we ever doubt, that we too are only a small part of it. We puff ourselves up to thinking we are so great & wonderful. We pride ourselves in building the tallest buildings, & climbing the highest mountains. In the long drawn out scheme of things are we to continue to kid ourselves into thinking that, that is what truly matters.... Will we ever collectively "wake up", to remind ourselves, "think again". It really does distill down to what Maya Angelou has said, that "What it is we remember about one another, is how they've made us feel".

Mourning a loved one's passing, it is always bittersweet, for it is as Maya Angelou has shared. The special people in our lives, have made us feel special. Not only do we miss their physical presence, but it is also how we made one another feel when we shared time together. In that way we also mourn for those long lost feelings, & the uniqueness of our relationship. In that way, we are often inspired to create the best of our best, knowing full well that, that special person will never- see it, hear it, feel it, or know it, in our time, but we go ahead, & do it at our highest of levels, solely & most innocently, & ultimately, for that timeless love. We plant our Gardens, & go through the seasons, living a life, one day at a time. So very often, most surprised, at what does come- "to pass".
That is solely our way, for we are, only human.

"To The Peacemakers", A Night At A Bazaar & of Celebrating

To The Peacemakers

Angels
Candles
Doves that fly

Solstice
Holidays
Pecan Pie

Fellowship
Friendship
Love of folks

Singing
Dancing
Feeling hope

Eggnog
Cider
Coffee
Tea

Spices
Sweet treats
Balsam trees

Golden flickerings
Flames so pure
Bells are ringing
Drumming soars

Skylines twinkle
Nighttime lures
This is perfect
Nothing more

Last night we attended a lovely Peace event, sponsored by a very passionate & local group that came into existence in the Spring of 2009.
The, Israel/Palestine Peace, Education & Action Group of Eastern Ct, have active members from Christian, Muslim, & Jewish faiths, as well as non-faith based individuals.

Excellent speakers & performers were on the program promoting acceptance of differences, tolerance & peace, in conjunction with the, I/PPEAGEC , Mission Statement as put forth in the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights & the Earth Charter

My spot was along a wall in a gathering area, at the entrance way of the Quaker Meeting House, where this delightful fundraiser was held. Our friends Marge & David, the organizers of this event had so kindly extended an invitation to us, to participate. Yes, the Peace Garden was there with all it's colorful frills, enticing fellow winter gardeners to decorate a Peace Flag or two. This is always one of my most favorite of projects. A very kind & welcoming Quaker Lady at the Meeting House last night referred to me as an "activist artist", which it seems I am, being one of my true, true, "labors of love".

*Peace Be With You, In All Seasons*

Todays included poem "To The Peacemakers", brings us to the fourth entry in this new series, Poetry A muse In Motion.

The Holidays, Pickup & Shine

Things are buzzing along in our neck of the woods. A good friend emailed several poems to me this morning. This Peace Garden & the blessings of love & support that has been given from it's start, it seems, we may have a lovely new addition! [Yes, I feel like a mom.] I'll definitely keep you all posted, with this exciting news, as I want our friend to be very comfortable, as to how her poetry is placed.

On another note, my husband & I will be at a Peace event decorating Peace Flags, this evening at 6:30pm, in Mansfield, Ct. This event is being held at the Quaker Meeting House, right near the University of Connecticut. If you're out our way, please stop in. There will be music, dancing, delicious & interesting food, & all sorts of fun. I was up last night into the wee hours, cutting & pressing colorful fabric for "127" Peace Flags. My "to-do/pack the car up list", is emerging fast, but I did, listen to my muse, & am thankfully blessed with a new poem this bright & sunny morning:

The Holidays, Pick Up & Shine

Pick up the house
and dust those chairs

Clip down the yard
there's much to care

Shop for the food
the list is long

Cook it all up
then it's all gone

Pumpkins & turkey,
red berries that zing

Potatoes & gravy
salads that sing-

Light candles
fix tables
bring wine out to toast

the holiday feast
oh such work for the host

The pies when they're baking
the house smells so sweet

The toast we've been making
reveals a warm treat

Love is what brings us
to tables so far

In trains, or in buses
in planes or in cars

So now that one's ended,
an other's begun
clean up to good music
the glow's just begun.

The photo above is from our cousins Arlene & David's very unique art collection. Can you make out their colorful array of pickup sticks. Definitely a child's play, no more.

Poetry In Motion, what a joy this project is, & definitely a challenge too. Here we are with the fourth day of poetry. Thank you all for your encouragement. I am so looking forward to posting a new & unique talent here in the garden soon. I'll keep you posted, for sure.

Dolls & Thoughts From The Attic

If I, If I, a child like me
Oh what, oh what, I'd say to thee-

I'd sit her down, we'd talk & play
I'd tell her please enjoy your day
Work hard, to learn what interests you
Your talented, this is a clue,
read all your books, & sing your songs
be patient life's a circle strong

Paint at your art, create your dreams
beware of other's scarrish schemes
Care for yourself & those you love
Walk gently on the path with doves

Society swims, without a clue
Our tired world, their own cesspool

But you've a right to live your dream
The world, it cries, it says please heed-

I've all you've got
You know your part
to stop pollution,
that's a start

Not go to war
Not go to hate
To balance calls
to mediate

Listen hard,
and listen soft
we're all to blame
we've done are part

So when your grown up, standing tall
Remember it's a world for all.

Today has been the third day, contributing to the; Poetry A Muse In Motion, project.

Twelfth Month

December I remember
I doth think of you
from the highways
to the by ways
life, will sing us through

With the carols
with the cookies
jingle of the bells
to the snowmen
and the plowmen
and the roads of salted ice,
to the parties
don't eat hardy, for those calories,
count twice,

Have a coffee
skip the toffee
hold the fruitcake
and the cream
read a story
hang a stocking
do it all, as you would dream

Send an e-mail
and a snail card
take a picture, time is peak

Time is present
Time is precious
Time is something we can't sneak
take your minutes
and your moments
Time is all within,
and here,

Hug your family
and your puppies
and your children
in your heart
keep these memories
tell your stories
laugh your chapters, share the spark

know these moments
are just moments
and there's nothing
you to fear

When it's snowing
bundle briskly
walk the crunchy icicles

Know we're human
even fragile
keep your wits & knowledge near

Know it's fleeting
thin as paper
as our trees
they are our ears
are our wittiness
are our soul mates
ever present standing free,
ever patient
ever silent
knows our God does love
our trees

They tell stories
hidden deeply
those in bedded in a trunk
they do know that
we are wasteful
with a lot of awesome stuff

So be kind our fellow humans
when we look upon our trees
be reminded of their wisdom
sharing kindness is the key.

Written 12/2/10 , third poem in the Poetry A Muse In Motion, series.

**********************************************************************************

This poem is dedicated to our friend Glen Douglas. Glen enriched our lives with his warmth, sincerity, deep knowledge & his wonderful spirit of joyful humor. On November 21, 2010, the world had lost a very kind & thoughtful man. His memory will live on, in the hearts of his family & many friends world wide.

*Amen*

Chanukah, Christmas & Kwanzaa

Chanukah, Christmas

Kwanzaa & more

take the time

to take your breath,

for hope,

& love's

reborn.

******************************

Well here it is December 2nd, 2010. This very short poem was jotted down yesterday & today another one was composed.
It's a very good exercise, of which only time will tell.

Poetry A Muse In Motion

Our son Mike, who plays drums in the Boston based band The Bynars, told me how one of the band originator's, Matt is committed to writing a new song everyday. Since I am on this sabbatical from my former profession, & my passion is writing & creating art, my son suggested I do something to challenge myself, to create a bit of a routine, in order to accomplish my goals.

"Vol la"... I have decided to commit to writing a poem every day. Each & every poem will not, of course be the best of the best, but there may be a few nuggets along the way. It is for my love of God, who has always guided me, from my way back younger years, of which I am very blessed to know, to listen, that I take on this project, & remain open to learn, & discover.

*Amen*

When I come upon a poem, that seems like a good one to share, I will post it on the Peace Garden, as I did yesterday. As of today, I have a few more. In time I will decide how best to post & share, what is shared with me, from the poetic realm, of living a life, nothing more, nothing less.

Please feel free to share any of these poems among your family or friends, if any are so appropriate. We are all so very different, unique that is, but ultimately all very much the same.
We toil in life's gardens, nurture what we plant, reap what we sow, & forever looking up to the sky. Please so help us God.
