So Close To The Bone

We Can All Use A Couch Some Days,
Some Days Not

So close to the bone

My extended fam

those distant

not so distant ones,

the Larrys

the Eugenes

the Royals

the K's

the C's

the balance of the shifting fence,

cast ill

rip hearts,

to limbo's

ancient

tune

Amen

And yes I say *Amen* Poetry, & the arts have always given me a true & clear mind's eye view, of being able to identify most viscerally what it is that is most truly at the heart of the matter. We are all so very blessed to have the arts, for without artistic expression, truly where would we be. Poetry A Muse In Motion, thankfully continues to give me clarity of-
body, mind & spirit.
It does take me a bit of time to work some of this through, as the wounds are deep, & the goal is inner peace. Family systems of where some of us come from, have been known to offer quite the array- from the sane, to the less than. It's those less than chapters that have been known to creep up, somewhat like the orbit of a boomerang, without the cool Aussie sound effects. This has been known to occur when one from the cast of characters from long ago, decide it's command performance time again. I do love a good performance, but at the theatre, plus this weekend was much better suited for comedy. Oh well, better luck next time, at least there won't be rain.

Home Sweet Home & Stepping Out Too

Yesterday we had lunch with a dear friend. Our dear friend Ruth, is the original organiser of our former peace group. The group of which we were a part of, stood together at a popular corner here in our neck of the woods, for at least two years. During that time, & since then, Ruth has been on our local radio station & has written oodles of, Letters To The Editor informing people about some of the truer aspects dealing with the politics of war. She most recently gave a mini course of peace topics, at our local community college, having shown the film War Made Easy [which was excellent], & also featuring some books from her own library of a lifetime of reading. It was suggested during our special holiday lunch that Ruth took us out to, that we again find a way for a group of us to "Stand for Peace", perhaps at a different corner this time. Just down the road around the bend, so to speak.

We are going to consider this, & I will of course continue to keep you posted.

Our very smart & thoughtful friend, also suggested a little something, in regards to my poetry & writing of free verse. She suggested some non rhyming. I told her, yes I do, do that too, it's just that the holiday season has been so conducive to the rhyme, & rhyming is so very easy for me to get into. Poetry A Muse In Motion, is a personal challenge, & I take our friend's critique & suggestion very seriously & most definitely to heart. So behold, yet my other style.

My husband & I, as shared in previous postings, have been married some forty years. As far as we're concerned, that's a pretty long time. During our growing up years, being children in those way back family systems, one of the most important lessons we have learned is, how not to treat one another. That pretty much sums it up, with peace, love & understanding, for better & for worse. Now that we are in the midst of our fortieth year as a family, the true meaning of the holiday season continues to ring, ever so true-

Peace, Love & Understanding

Who is my keeper

You keep me

As I keep you

together,

together

All is impermanent

forever

An Interfaith Holiday View From Our Front Door

This morning on awakening to our surprise there was a gentle dusting of some early snow. It's not quite winter yet, still ten days away, but already we've had nights with those frigid temperatures in the teens. Brrrrrrrr, yes really.

Yesterday I decided to compose a poem at the end of the day, rather than early morning, just to see what I would decide to muse on. I think my tone is pretty consistent-
Night or day, day or night, it all depends, then, then I write;

A Day Of Calm

A day of calm
Outside it's cold
This day doth end
No stories told
I've pasted stamps
of different hues
Am working hard
To get done too

The holidays, the list is long
I'll write it out
and sing along
I'll get them done
Batch number two
and get them mailed
All out to you

As cards arrive
I love them so
They're colorful
of that you know

The notes you write
of heartfelt care
It's good to have
Our friends so near

A town so small
A town so quaint
Makes holidays
So sweet
Can't wait

I'll take my time
I'll get it done
and think of you
It's all been fun.

**************************************************************************

The above poem was written yesterday 12/10/10, & here it is of course a bright new day. With this new day, it is important for me to have another poem & here it is, it just came about-

My Mind's Eye

A bright new day
This snow doth shine
It glitters so
Behind my mind

You know it so
You know it's true
Winter comes forth
With it's own rules

So bundle up, wear boots & gloves
It's fun outdoors
When shovelling's done.

************************************************************************

My muse has done a poem or two, & now it's time, [I'll put on shoes], to get out there & enjoy this day. Have a good one, one & all, & we'll be back [don't trip, or fall] & if you have some of this fleeting snow, in your neck of the woods, enjoy the view!

[So completes my entries up to this date in the Poetry A Muse In Motion, project.]

Candy Canes, Cookies, Ribbons & More

Candy Canes, Cookies, Ribbons & More

Twiddle Dum & Twiddle Dee
It's time to pick
A Christmas tree

The goose & gander
They're all set
To choose at last a new chess set

Model trains
They can't be beat
And Christmas cookies fun to eat

Our stockings hemmed
All set to go
Let's hope now for some fluffy snow

Let's wrap some gifts
And hang some canes
Pull out the chairs
And play some games

It's work that's true
We'll get it done
And ring the bells
And have some fun!

"Merry Christmas
All
& to all,
A Good Day" !

Night Of The Crescent Moon, & A Cautionary Tale

Welcome, welcome & how's it going out there? December is buzzing along... Sent out a small batch of holiday cards today which I finished decorating yesterday. Tonight was a Sisterhood meeting at the synagogue I belong to. It was the last night of Chanukah, as you can see by the glow of the nine candles, though Chanukah is eight days. The candle in the middle, is the shamos which is the helper candle. The shamos is used each night to light the other candles. What's not to love about the shamos. It still is my favorite, the one with a position of honor. The one that helps.

Some of the photos in this evening's collage of thoughts, true some are a bit out there, but when props are limited, one just improvises as best they can. The scales of justice were photographed today at one of our favorite restaurants in downtown Putnam, Ct. The Courthouse, is their name, & the menu, is varied, just & fair. We're also certain, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that--

"The chef
and the wait staff,
they are not blind,
most definitely
talented,
efficient
and kind."

This afternoon I put the finishing touches on the following poem. I wrote it the other day, & it wasn't until now, that it was ready for the world, with all it's archaic imaginary. It is not of my usual realm of topics, but in each and every garden, there may be a hint of a random wildflower or so. Here's one from that realm--

Pandora's Potpourri

Love is blind
Justice is blind
An eye for an eye
Our one good eye

Crime & punishment
Nick & tuck
When they do
It's muck, muck, muck

Not always pretty
Not a site to share

Apples in your orchard
Needs someone to care

Insect's, sprinkle pollen
Pollution travels far
Remember it's all ancient
Pandora's little jar

They say it was a box
Legend, so it says
But be sure,
They do keep score
of profits in their head

Feeding times a frenzy
sharks & squids abound
Keep your wit's
Protect your *-!*/'s
It's lonely at the pound.

Woof, Woof
Don't run with the wolves.

A Day At The Co-op

What do I say.... It has certainly been busy, & I can barely keep up with anything housework related. I have been told that I have not kept up, my end of the bargain, as our kitchen counter is accumulating with dishes & not the clean ones either. I did find time to jot down this short little poem though. Nothing too deep, but that's ok. On some days we just have to keep it on the lighter side--

Co-op Bliss

Shopping at the Coop

Is such a lot of fun

Pack your bags

Without a care

It's hummus on the run

*************************************************************

It truly was great. I even started my holiday shopping. And here we are in Poetry A Muse In Motion mode, & I'm just plain happy to be chugging along. It's sort of like a virtual Peace Train, of words that is. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Holiday Snail Mail, So Love It !

I think today is a good one to get started on batch number two, of our holiday cards. As you know I have this "situation" with sweets. One of the most effective ways I have to cope with all this, is to do a bit of light hearted art. Nothing too involved, or planned out, just something with color, texture & a bit of personality. Yes my dear friends, let's hear it for our, "U.S. Postal
Service"!, for without these hard working people our winter holidays would be very lacking, in a good part of it's color & charm. Let us say, "Thank You" , to All* of U* !
